Guide
Where to put your QR codes
Where your QR code goes decides how many guests scan it. Here is what works best at the reception and the rehearsal dinner.
A person beats a sign
Guests are far more likely to scan when someone hands them a card or asks them to. A code nobody mentions is easy to walk past.
Catch guests with free hands
Show the code when guests have their hands free and a few minutes to spare, like when they sit down at their table, not while they're holding a drink and a plate.
At the reception
-
4 × 6 card
Hand cards out at the entrance
Ask someone to stand at the door and give every guest a card as they arrive. Being handed something by a person is the surest way to get it used.
-
4 × 6 card
Put a stack next to the two of you
Set cards on a table beside the couple. When guests come over to say hello, ask them to take one and fill it out.
-
4 × 6 card
Put a card on every table
Guests see it the moment they sit down, which is exactly when their hands are free and they have time to scan.
-
18 × 24 or 24 × 36 poster
Hang a poster where everyone will see it
Put a large poster somewhere guests pass or gather, so the code is hard to miss from across the room.
At the rehearsal dinner
-
4 × 6 card
Put a card on each plate
Every guest finds one at their seat, with time to scan before the food arrives.
-
18 × 24 or 24 × 36 poster
Put up a poster everyone can see
A poster at the front of the room gives speakers something to point to.
Mention it in a speech
The rehearsal dinner is a rare chance to ask everyone at once: the whole group is in one room and the wedding party is already giving speeches. When someone calls out the prompts in their speech, guests are very likely to do them.
